Legacy of the Celtic Tiger

Our country's scarred with greed
We're a money grabbing nation
We holiday in the south of France
Thinking we are special

To maintain our life of luxury
We're now up to our eyes in debt
We life a life we can't afford
Our elders we neglect

We've left them on the breadline
Left them dying in the cold
We're too busy making money
We don't visit anymore

But when they die we pray for them
While searching for their will
If our name is not upon it though
We curse their souls to hell

Someday we will regret this
Someday when we are old
The bad example we've set our children means
We will be dumped in an old-folks home

There'll be no use of complaining
It's what we'll all deserve
All our lives we've put money first
But money can't buy us love.
